Arrange for Award Winning Bitting Specialist Gail to visit your horse and carry out a full bitting analysis. Surely correct bit fitting is as important as the saddle??
Whatever your level of riding; we cater from novice through to international team members across all disciplines - the horse's comfort is key. Only go hacking? Your horse still needs to be comfortable so a consultation is still very appropriate.
Correct bit fitting is really important but often unfortunately
overlooked. Issues caused by an incorrectly fitted bit can include:
Tongue sores and cuts
Ulcers under the tongue
Rubs and splits in the corners of the lips
Incorrect pressure dispersion across the bitting pressure points
As part of the appointment I will check the above, check how your current bit and bridle fit and then go on to watch you ride in current bit (if suitable). If a change of bit is appropriate, I will advise on a new one, will fit it and you can then try it. Part of the service includes you completing our questionnaire before the visit and I will also watch any videos and view any photos too beforehand.
Anything taken on the day is available on our 30 day trial too. We then keep full records so you have free access to our ongoing advice and support and once I have seen your horse, it is much easier to then advise on a new bit for changing disciplines etc and we can ensure an accurate fit.
We have recently changed the pricing structure to try and make it easier for customers regardless of their location compared to ours here in north east England. We now have a guide structure for approximate travelling times in relation to a minimum number of horses:
Half an hour from TS7 0NR One horse or more
Up to one hour from us Minimum two horses
Up to two hours from us Minimum four horses
Up to three hours from us Minimum six horses
Up to four hours from us Minimum 8 horses
Up to five hours from us Minimum 10 horses
We are as flexible as we can be and the above is just a guide: if you are four hours from us with only one horse we can try and work out a quotation that is fair to you and us to ensure your horse can still be seen.

Please take care of the bit and keep it in good condition during the hire period. Damaged or broken bits cannot be returned.
Don't worry about teeth marks - this sometimes happens with warmer sweeter metals - or oxidation - this happens with sweet iron and has a rusty appearance.
Both are perfectly normal and will not affect me accepting the bit back.
It is your responsibility to ensure that the bit is kept safe from damage, theft and loss during the trial period.
All bits must be returned in clean condition and we ask that you wash the bit gently but thoroughly in warm water to remove any grass, food etc.
All bits returned to Horse Bit Hire will be disinfected thoroughly.
Horse Bit Hire cannot be held responsible for any diseases, infections, viruses or mouth or medical conditions that appear after hiring a bit from us.
The bit must be back with Horse Bit Hire before the Hire End Date to avoid further charges being incurred.
